2x2 Construction

After contacting and meeting with a number of other companies, we chose 2x2 to complete our garden suite project, which started in June and took about 6 months and just completed now in Nov 2024. Starting with Dave, who quoted on the project, and provided the opportunity to tour a recent build they had completed and who I worked through on the contract details. We worked with Kyle, who was very knowledgeable, patient and Lorne, who handled the logistics and scheduling on this project. What also made the BIGGEST difference was Joel, who was on site regularly day to day, managing the trades, making sure the site was clean and things were being done right! Joel was extremely detail oriented, would pick up on things that needed to be fixed, responsive, followed through on things he needed to do, and communicative throughout the entire build and I felt so reassured he was overseeing this build. This was particularly important since this build was in the backyard of our principal home. I previously had a bad experience on another separate reno rental project with another general contractor and 2x2 completely restored my trust in how a build/renovation project should be. This garden suite build with them went above and beyond my expectations with the build quality, professionalism of the entire team and how the entire process went. They delivered on time and I highly recommend them to anyone that I talk to. I look forward to hopefully working together again on future projects!

We worked closely with Kyle and Lorne throughout, and their dedication to staying on time and within budget was impressive—especially for a project of this scale. 2x2’s team was highly communicative, responding promptly to our questions and handling any changes we requested with ease. We did a lot of research on 2x2 Construction before picking them for our Laneway house build and they did NOT disappoint.  Our project also involved a very extensive basement renovation.  Both came out better than our wildest expectations. Joel was our site supervisor and his attention to detail and quality of work was and is very impressive.  There were a few challenges as the house was being built on a existing well aged cinder block garage with some well hidden secrets, each one handled with 100% confidence. Many times during the build we would change our minds and never once were we discouraged from proceeding with what we ultimately wanted.  Big huge thanks to Joel, Kyle, Lorne, Dave and the entire team! I have included before and after photos as we still can’t believe our garage has turned into a beautiful home.

Building a laneway suite is a big financial decision. Before I picked 2x2 I visited them at one of there projects. Kyle was the project manager of that location. He was very easy to talk to and also very knowledgeable about the building process. I decided to go with 2x2 shortly after I met with him. 2x2 made this experience the least stressful as can be. Our project manager was Joel. He was on site almost everyday. Working with him was very easy. Also knowledgeable and hard working. He makes sure the site is always clean and that all the trades don't take short cuts. Things that I didn't notice wrong, he notices . He'll show me and gets it done right. He is very professional with the clients and trades. We couldn't of asked for the perfect project manager for our longtime goal of having a laneway suite. The whole 2x2 team were very easy to communicate with including Lorne who I communicated with mainly by email. Thanks again guys for not making this experience stressful.

Went to the open house to see a new garden suite in East York. It's beautiful! Such great work. Would love to do this in the future.

2x2 is a top notch builder. Would recommend them without hesitation. From the team at the office including procurement, accounting, and project management, to the site supervisor, all conducted themselves professionally and always with the clients best interests in mind. 5 stars.
